Summary:
Y'mhitra has had word from Saint Coinach's Find that the archaeologists have unearthed an Allagan tome on summoning magicks. Make your way to the camp in Mor Dhona and speak with Rammbroes.
Rammbroes immediately places the ancient book in your hands, declaring that he was able to decipher little more than the fact that it contained the wisdom of Allagan summoners. He bids you take the tome to Y'mhitra in Revenant's Toll, and allow the scholar to peruse its pages.
Y'mhitra carefully cracks open the tome's covers, and the both of you are caught off guard as the book suddenly jumps from her hands and introduces itself as “Principia.” According to the animate familiar, it was created as an instruction manual for promising summoners, but can only share its higher knowledge once the student in question has completed three formidable challenges. The first of these challenges is to be a test of power. Follow Y'mhitra out into the wilds of north Silvertear, and ask Principia to call forth your monstrous opponent.
You have defeated the demon of the tome. Share your victory with the nearby Y'mhitra.
It appears your victory over the tome's demon was more than satisfactory, but despite its glowing praise, “Prin” gives the impression that your technique is far from perfect. Amazed at this evaluation and intrigued by the tale of the familiar's creation, Y'mhitra seems lost in contemplation of the past. Return to Gridania, and rejoin the scholar at Apkallu Falls.
Y'mhitra praises you on your triumph once more, and speaks eagerly of revealing the lost knowledge hidden within the tome. Before you can attempt Prin's next challenge, however, it seems you will need to work on perfecting your technique.

It was upon glimpsing this bleak future that a certain master summoner set about crafting yours truly. Inscribed with arts of tremendous power, I exist to teach others how to safeguard their existence.

Another excellent observation. I was penned by Master Sari, a preeminent summoner of his time. He was, in fact, likely the last master summoner of the Allagan Empire's reign.
Were I to date myself by your culture's notion of history, my creation would have taken place at a point just before the empire's collapse. In other words, solidly within the richest era of aetherochemical discovery.
One might reasonably wonder why this wonderful science was excluded from my invention, and I assure you, there is a reason...
In the beginning, the Allagans rose to superiority through their mastery of magecraft. It is told that the very first wielders of summoning magic made do with grimoires fashioned of leather and ink and parchment.
There came a tipping point, however, when the mundane sciences began to progress with ever-growing rapidity. These advances were married with the arcane, and aetherochemical technology was born.
Even as the harnessing of lightning energies gave rise to new recording mediums, techniques were developed that allowed complex arcane geometries to be instantly plotted. Traditional grimoires were replaced by devastatingly efficient and elegant weapons.
The convenience of these tools, however, did not lend themselves well to the instruction of initiates. Beyond such considerations, the new mediums could not be perused without dedicated machinery, and their manufacture was no simple matter.
...And so the summoner who breathed life into you decided that tomestones and the like were not the ideal method for passing on his accumulated wisdom.
Correct. He chose for me the primitive form of a book, and inscribed within my pages a bounty of potent incantations that required no machine to be cast.

Il vous a toutefois affirmé que votre amie Y'mhitra, qui a été retenue au Glas des revenants, est justement une spécialiste de ce genre de procédés.
Lorsque vous avez transmis le livre à votre camarade miqo'te, celui-ci s'est soument animé et a commencé à vous parler. Dénommé “Principia Invocationis Magicae”, il aurait été créé afin d'enseigner les secrets de la magie invocatrice allagoise aux générations futures. Cependant, il vous a prévenu que vous devriez vous en montrer digne en réussissant trois épreuves, dont la première doit justement avoir lieu à la rive nord de Pleurargent.
Vous avez réussi à démontrer votre pouvoir, en vainquant les créatures créées par Principia Invocationis Magicae, ou “Pim”, comme il vous a proposé de l'appeler. Y'mhitra a semble-t-il apprécié le spectacle. Elle vous a donné l'impression d'avoir quelque chose à vous dire.
Après vous avoir félicité</If>, votre amie a décidé de demander à Pim pourquoi il n'a vraisemblablement pas été conçu grâce à la magismologie. Le livre vivant a alors expliqué qu'il a été créé par un des derniers grands invocateurs d'Allag, peu de temps avant la chute de cet ancien empire, et que le choix d'un support d'information <Emphasis>primitif</Emphasis> a été fait de peur que les gens des générations futures ne puissent pas utiliser les mémoquartz. Ayant eu la réponse qu'elle désirait, Y'mhitra vous a alors annoncé qu'elle allait retourner aux chutes de l'Apkallu, à Gridania.

Des <Emphasis>divinités guerrières</Emphasis>... C'est en effet le nom que les Allagois donnaient en leur temps aux Primordiaux. Je ne comprends toutefois pas pourquoi quelqu'un aurait créé un ouvrage capable de reconnaître une perrrsonne ayant les qualités requises pour lui enseigner cette magie.
Pour cela, il faut faire un peu d'HISTOIRE. Cet art a été créé autrefois afin d'éliminer les divini... euh, les Primordiaux, comme vous dites. Mais après que ces entités ont été ANNIHILÉES, il est devenu impossible d'appeler des Egi, et les invocateurs et leurs savoirs devaient nament DISPARAÎTRE.
C'est justement pour empêcher cela qu'un ILLUSTRE pratiquant de cette discipline m'a donné ces si jamais la MENACE des Primordiaux venait à ressurgir.

À quelle époque as-tu été conçu? À première vue, tu ne sembles pas porrrter les marques de la magismologie, qui date de la période tardive.
Je dois reconnaître que vous êtes PERSPICACE, Madame Y'mhitra. Mon auteur s'appelait Sari, et a proment été le DERNIER grand invocateur d'Allag.
Autrement dit, j'ai été RÉDIGÉ peu de temps avant la chute de l'Empire, au moment où la magismologie connaissait son APOGÉE.
Pourtant, aucun de ces savoirs et TECHNOLOGIES n'ont été utilisés sur moi, et il y a une raison pour ça...
Il faut en effet savoir que la CIVILISATION allagoise a connu son essor grâce à la magie. De ce que je sais, les PREMIERS invocateurs n'utilisaient que des grimoires faits de cuir, de papier et d'encre.
CEPENDANT, après quelque temps, les technologies ont commencé à se développer rapidement. Et c'est en les COMBINANT à la magie qu'est apparue la magismologie et qu'elle a connu sa prospérité.
Cela a permis l'apparition de nouveaux SUPPORTS d'information utilisant des particules appelées <Emphasis>fulgurons</Emphasis>, et le développement de procédés rendant possible le dessin instantané de DIAGRAMMES magiques complexes. C'est ainsi que des grimoires d'un nouveau type ont été mis au point.
Il faut toutefois reconnaître que ces innovations et ces OUTILS plus performants n'aidaient en rien les pratiquants à maîtriser leur discipline. Qui plus est, les mémoquartz ne pouvaient être lus qu'avec des MACHINES spéciales et leur fabrication était loin d'être aisée.
Je vois. La perrrsonne qui t'a créé s'est donc dit qu'il ne valait mieux pas faire appel à ces supports pour transmettre ses conces en magie invocatrice aux générations futures, de peur que ces dernières ne puissent pas les utiliser.

Es folgt ein Kampf gegen vier Schüler Lahabreas, den ihr allerdings auch für euch entscheiden könnt.

Die Grundlagen allagischer Magie sind simpel. Ein Beschwörer braucht eigentlich nicht mehr als Pinsel, Tusche und Papier, um seine magischen Forschungen zu betreiben.
Doch mit der technischen Revolution verschmolzen Magie und Technologie zur Ätherochemie.
Bücher wurden durch Dinge ersetzt, die von Blitzen angetrieben wurden und selbst komplizierteste Beschwörungsformeln im Handumdrehen errechnen konnten. Bücher wurden nicht mehr gebraucht. Wir verstaubten in Regalen und Bibliotheken.
Das Problem mit diesen praktischen Hilfsmitteln: Der Fortschritt konzentrierte sich auf sie, während die Praktizierenden auf der Stelle traten. Und schlimmer noch: Viele dieser Schriften können nur gelesen werden, wenn das richtige Gerät zur Verfügung steht.
So wie im Fall der allagischen Steine?
